Making page layouts work
This section deals with how to use the Text Editor to make a range of layouts using text, links and tables, and uploading images, videos and PDFs. To do it comfortably, make sure you've read the page Text Editor and Image Editor.
Text copy entered into the Text Editor will not necessarily replicate how it might have originally appeared in say a Word file. That's because HTML is less precise than say Word or InDesign, and it behaves slightly differently. Learning to adapt to the difference is a key to success. Always start with "clean" copy (no formatting) and ideally from a Notepad file. Otherwise it's prudent to click the 'Paste as plain text' icon just before you cut-and-paste | copy into the Text Editor panel. Copy viewed in the Text Editor will appear slightly differently from the way it appears live, even if you adjust the Text Editor page width, so it pays to check 'Preview Page' and 'Confirm Page' at every step. Text copy may need immediate adjustment when uploaded, with the most typical fix the removal of an extra space between paragraphs. |
